Locations for Summer Family Photography in the Bay Area
We are in an exciting time right now! We are now safely able to gather with friends and family as the Covid-19 pandemic approaches its end. It’s a time for family BBQs and pool parties, and while you’re at it, why not get some high-quality family photos taken as well? For many of you it’s been at least a year since you had family photos taken. Your young kids especially may look quite a bit different now from when the pandemic started. Call up your aunts & uncles, cousins, and grandparents and set up a photo session for the whole family, or, you can choose to have an intimate photo session of you and your partner.
In the scenic bay area, there are a ton of places that are perfect for an outdoor family photo shoot. Here are a couple that we love:
- The Gardens at Heather Farm (Walnut Creek)- Heather Farm is a scenic park tucked away in Walnut Creek, and the Gardens is the most beautiful part of the park. Within the backdrop of the rolling hillside of Ygnacio Valley lies a community sustained garden that creates this beautiful atmosphere. In the summer, the stunning rose garden is in full bloom and is perfect for any session. The Gardens at Heather Farm is the ideal setting for either a maternity session or a family portrait.
- Shell Ridge Open Space (Walnut Creek)- Shell Ridge is a wide, hilly area located just a few miles from downtown Walnut Creek. There are a number of scenic areas in Shell Ridge among the many hillsides, ridgetops, and creeks of the space, as well as a historic cattle ranch. This beautiful, natural backdrop is perfect for both family photo sessions and maternity sessions.
- Lands End Lookout (San Francisco)- Lands End is a well-known beautiful location at the edge of San Francisco right on the shoreline. Around rocky cliffs, posing at Lands End creates a beautiful backdrop of the Pacific Ocean and the Golden Gate Bridge. Unlike the first two locations, Lands End is more of a romantic setting, so it is more often utilized for maternity sessions than large family photoshoots.
